About the Department
Established in the year 1972.
B.Sc. Degree course (General) started in the year 1972.
Botany Honours course started in 2000.
Vision
It should be the vision of the department to impart the knowledge of the basics of plant science to the young and enthusiastic students concerned and help them to open their searching eyes for quest of new and more advanced knowledge in their respective fields.
Mission
1. To sow into the students' mind the seeds of the zeal for lifelong study of plant sciences.
2. To create into the students concerned the true scientific attitude.
3. To make the students to think about how to create, preserve and protect our natural resources and to make the environment more commensurate for better living.
4. To produce highly qualified students of botany through quality education and services so that ours will be the leading department to be followed by others.
5. To reach all these missions as achievements ours will be the helpful endeavour to sign MOUs with other renowned institutions and their botany departments.
Future Plan
1. Isolation of PGPR (Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria) which could be used as a biofertilizers in place of hazardous chemical fertilize2 Mushroom cultivation
2. Biofertilizer cultivation (Azolla, Rhizobium) etc.
3. Cultivation of medicinal plant.
4. Improvement of herbal knowledge in veterinary purposes.
